~2022 Accomplishments~
1 | Hope for Haiti
DCM partnered with several Haitian American organizations to provide food, clothing, school supplies, and other basic necessities.
2 | Visual Arts Program
Sponsored by the Jersey City Arts and Culture Fund, DCM hosted the Viva Greenville Exhibition, the Comic Book Workshop, JCAST, and the Jersey City Legacy Photo Exhibition.
3 | Healing Circle
A safe and accepting environment to explore personal healing in body, emotion, mind, and spirit. Yoga with Youth is pictured to the left.
4 | Afterschool Enrichment Program
This program includes the Young Journalist workshop, the Literacy Club, the Bilingual Spanish Club, the Young Fashion Designers, the Young Beauticians, Planning 4 Success, and S.T.E.A.M. Education.
5 | Food Drive at Zion Baptist Church
DCM organized a food drive at Zion Baptist Church for residents of Ward F and other neighboring wards.
6 | Diversity Day
A celebration of cultures with music, dance, food, and art.
7 | Youth Mentorship Program
All throughout the year, our Counselors have one on one sessions with Youth as part of our partnership with Hudson Partnership CMO. The Youth Mentorship Program provided free tutoring, career development, mentorship, and entrepreneurship by industry leaders.
8 | Family Fun Day
DCM hosted a fun family outing at Bayside Park including food, mini golf, a bouncy castle, and music.
9 | Annual Minority Freedom Scholarship
The First Annual Minority Freedom Scholarship awarded 3 college-bound students with $1,000.
10 | Clothing Donation Drive
DCM partnered with Macy’s to host a clothing drive for Jersey City residents.
11 | Environmental Justice Initiative
DCM acquired a plot of land that has been transformed into the new Rose Avenue Urban Farm. Work on our farm will begin in March 2023.
12 | School Prep Extravaganza
In partnership with Kutz-for-Kidz and Mysterious Ways, DCM provided haircuts and school supplies to over 500 Jersey City students headed back to class.
13 | JCAST 2022
DCM displayed the gorgeous work of local artists such as Eli Ramos, Susana Martín, Maria Lupiañez, James Aurelio Shaw, and Angelica Rosenberg all over Jersey City. From the Ferris Triangle Park, to Bayside Park, to Pitbull City pet shop, to St. Paul the Apostle’s church fence, to Rising Tide Capital.
14 | Expungement Clinics
Helping those with marijuana offenses get the offenses off their records in hopes of improving their chances of employment.
15 | Trunk a Treat 2022
In collaboration with Ward A Councilwoman Denise Ridley, DCM participated in Ward A’s Halloween party that provided candy and other giveaways and celebrated the Day of the Dead.
16 | Christmas Spectacular Gift Giveaway
Children from the Greenville neighborhood received donated gifts for Christmas. DCM gave out toys to 300 plus youth in the Ward A Greenville area of Jersey City.

~2022 Awards and Recognition~
2023 Grand Marshall, Jersey City Caribbean American Carnival
Monica Shaw has been selected to lead the Jersey City Caribbean American Carnvial in 2023.
2022 Woman of Action Award, Jersey City Council
Monica Shaw was recognized in March of 2022 by the Jersey City Council. She was awared the Woman of Action Award by Councilwoman Denise Ridley.
Nonprofit Impactor Award
2022 Women of Commerce Ambassadress Award
Monica Shaw was recognized for her leadership in 2022 by the Hudson Chamber of Commerce
