Mocha Mic with Millie "Join our tribe of scribes and good vibes!!" View this email in your browser Mocha Mic with Millie Join us for an open mic show hosted by Millie with special guest speaker Susan Justiano on September 21st, starting at 6:30 PM located at The Loft, 683 Communipaw Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304, in honor of National Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month! There will be a variety of art, illustrations, musical performances, vendors, and food from Hispanic/Latinx creators. Half of the proceeds raised from this night will be generously donated to DCM, so please join us and support these creators as well as DCM! Here are some of the people joining us on the evening of September 21st: Susan Justiano, State of NJ Beat Poet Laureate. Back-to-School Celebration Update DCM has made some changes in the back-to-school event we are hosting on the 9th. Read on for more info. View this email in your browser Back-to-School Event DCM has made some changes to our back-to-school event. Event details:  When: Saturday, September 9th  Where: Ferris Triangle Park **the location has been changed from Liberty State Park What: come to receive school supplies and discounts on back-to-school haircuts! We thank you for all of the support we have received, with over 100 sign-ups on Eventbrite. We look forward to welcoming the new school year with you all.    Additional Information:  There is also a Back-to-school event hosted by Triangle Park Community Center on Wednesday, September 6th. Please be informed that both of these events require pre-registration. Join Us This Friday, August 18th! This Friday, we are hosting another volunteer day at the Rose Avenue Urban Farm! View this email in your browser Volunteer Days at the Rose Avenue Urban Farm Every Friday, DCM collaborates with the McGreen Team from McNair High School during one of Rose Avenue Urban Farm's Volunteer Days.  Last Friday, August 11th, DCM and the McGreen Team continued to fill up the garden beds with soil, water our crops, and throw away leftover weeds. View our progress below! And guess what? We've bought weed killer!! This Friday and the next, we plan to use those materials in order to finally put an end to hours of pulling evergrowing weeds and replace our precious time with planting seeds and creating compost, so please be sure to join us!  The Rose Avenue Urban Farm has also made its way to Serve Jersey City as an official agency, so check out our page! Our dedicated volunteers flashing a smile after a productive day at the farm. Venya Goyal, co-founder of the McGreen Team, using her strength to pull out those weeds! We greatly appreciate your time dedicated to helping the farm, and we'd love for you to come back again and join us once more and help the farm reach fruition. How can you help?  You can join us and volunteer at the farm!
